GBC ELECTRONICS (FORMENTI) UT13045M_TC BOVIT 21 COLOR YEAR 1978.

The GBC ELECTRONICS (FORMENTI) UT13045M_TC is a 20 inches (51cm) color television with 12 programs vst search system and remote.

The set is fabricated by FORMENTI a dead Italian industry which slowly aquired many cheap market brands until it's closing.

The set is featuring a P.I.L crt tube (RCA technology).
The new colour picture tube introduced in the UK by Thorn and developed in the US by RCA has an abundance of novel features designed to make it easier to operate and perhaps cheaper to produce. It arrives in an aura of snappy abbreviations such as PST ("precision static toroid") and ITC ("integral tube components") but the proud inventors for some reason insist on giving its full name, Precision In - Line System, the full treatment on each appearance. It seems inevitable that others will have no such inhibitions, so we shall draw comparisons between the new PI tube, the standard shadowmask tube and the Sony Trinitron. These are the only colour large scale production at present. Over twenty years have passed since RCA introduced the shadowmask cathode-ray tube, the first colour television display device to be mass produced. For most of this time it has remained the only colour picture tube available and it is now prodUced under licence to the inventors by many manufacturers all over the world. Detail improvements have been made of course but the basic scheme has remained unchanged: three electron guns in a triangular (or "delta") formation, a shadowmask etched with a pattern of tiny holes and a corresponding array of red, green and blue phosphor dots on the screen. In the last few years the Sony Trinitron has appeared and soon established itself as a display device for use in the small screen portable receivers for which it was designed. The three electron guns in this tube are closely spaced side by side in a horizontal plane. The "shadowmask" contains vertical slits instead of holes and the screen is composed of vertical phosphor stripes in a red -green- blue sequence.
The set is a first in featuring  a new set of PAL decoder chips which has been introduced by Siemens, the TDA2560/TDA2522/TDA2530. The first two of these second -source the latest Philips/Mullard decoder i.c.s, with the TDA2560 as luminance and chrominance signal amplifier and the TDA2522 as the reference oscillator/chrominance demodulator. Interesting features of this set up are the fact that the burst signal passes through the chrominance delay line and the fact that the reference oscillator operates at 8.86MHz, a digital divider providing exactly 90° phase displaced 4.43MHz outputs without the need for a phase shift coil. The first UK produced chassis to use these i.c.s is the Tandberg CTV3, the larger UK setmakers staying for the time being with the TBA560C/TBA540/TCA800 combination. The third i.c. from Siemens is the TDA2530 which supersedes the well known TBA530 luminance/colour-difference signal matrix- ing i.c. The TDA2530 contains a negative feedback driver amplifier and internal clamping in addition to the matrixing network.

The set is build with a Modular chassis design because as modern television receivers become more complex the problem of repairing the receiver becomes more difficult. As the number of components used in the television receiver increases the susceptibility to breakdown increases and it becomes more difficult to replace defective components as they are more closely spaced. The problem has become even more complicated with the increasing number of color television receivers in use. A color television receiver has a larger number of circuits of a higher degree of complexity than the black and white receiver and further a more highly trained serviceman is required to properly service the color television receiver.
Fortunately for the service problem to date, most failures occur in the vacuum tubes used in the television receivers. A faulty or inoperative vacuum tube is relatively easy to find and replace. However, where the television receiver malfunction is caused by the failure of other components, such as resistors, capacitors or inductors, it is harder to isolate the defective component and a higher degree of skill on the part of the serviceman is required.
Even with the great majority of the color television receiver malfunctions being of the "easy to find and repair" type proper servicing of color sets has been difficult to obtain due to the shortage of trained serviceman.
At the present time advances in the state of the semiconductor art have led to the increasing use of transistors in color television receivers. The receiver described in this application has only two tubes, the picture tube and the high voltage rectifier tube, all the other active components in the receiver being semiconductors.
One important characteristic of a semiconductor device is its extreme reliability in comparison with the vacuum tube. The number of transistor and integrated circuit failures in the television receiver will be very low in comparison with the failures of other components, the reverse of what is true in present day color television receivers. Thus most failures in future television receivers will be of the hard to service type and will require more highly qualified servicemen.
The primary symptoms of a television receiver malfunction are shown on the picture tube of the television receiver while the components causing the malfunction are located within the cabinet. Also many adjustments to the receiver require the serviceman to observe the screen. Thus the serviceman must use unsatisfactory mirror arrangements to remove the electronic chassis from the cabinet, usually a very difficult task. Further many components are "buried" in a maze of circuitry and other components so that they are difficult to remove and replace without damage to other components in the receiver.
Repairing a modern color television receiver often requires that the receiver be removed from the home and carried to a repair shop where it may remain for many weeks. This is an expensive undertaking since most receivers are bulky and heavy enough to require at least two persons to carry them. Further, two trips must be made to the home, one to pick up the receiver and one to deliver it. For these reasons, the cost of maintaining the color television receiver in operating condition often exceeds the initial cost of the receiver and is an important factor in determining whether a receiver will be purchased.
Therefore, the object of this invention is to provide a transistorized color television receiver in which the main electronic chassis is easily accessible for maintenance and adjustment. Another object of this invention is to provide a transistorized color television receiver in which the electronic circuits are divided into a plurality of modules with the modules easily removable for service and maintenance. The main electronic chassis is slidably mounted within the cabinet so that it may be withdrawn, in the same manner as a drawer, to expose the electronic circuitry therein for maintenance and adjustment from the rear closure panel after easy removal. Another aspect is the capability to be serviced at eventually the home of the owner.

GBC is a commercial brand with a long tradition and solid experience. It history begins in 1958, when Gian Bruto Castelfranchi (G.B.C.) established the company, with the aim of conquer the market.GBC is the acronym for Gian Bruto Castelfranchi, who founded the company in 1958 in order to commercialize instrument accessories and related material.
It is his son Jacopo, however, who made GBC the biggest company in Italy for the commercialisation of electronic materials and devices.

Jacopo joins his father's company in 1946, starting to increase the number of represented products and expanding in the field of electronic components, tubes, passive components and various equipment such as tape recorders and turntables.

The company expands and diversifies and in 1957 the Selezione di Tecnica Radio TV periodical is born, for which is created the J.C.E., Jacopo Castelfranchi Editore who was also the editor
of a monthly Magazine "IL CINESCOPIO" with his technical director Amadio Gozzi.

Not to be confused with the Selezione Radio magazine, published from 1951.

In 1962 the head office is transferred to Cinisello Balsamo owing to a shortage of space.
In 1970, the magazine changes its name to Sperimentare Selezione di Tecnica Radio TV.
In 1970 it becomes a Sony distributor for Italy and it later creates a joint venture with it.
The sales points in Italy reach maximum expansion with over 150 shops.
GBC also designs and creates its own high-fidelity stereo systems and televisions.
In these years, GBC also commercialises assembly kits branded “High kit” and “Amtron”.
In the next few years, it also becomes an importer for Bang&Olufsen, Sinclair and Goldstar.
GBC is sold in 1980.

With these words we could define Kon.El.Co. S.p.A. The history of the society in fact is recent, but the competence and the experience baggage that this company is able to guarantee, defines this reality as a reliable distributor with a long commercial tradition. Founded in 1994, Kon.El.Co. S.p.A. developed immediately, earning the concession of well-known commercial brands. Subsequently the company has become a S.p.A. and since then has obtained great results, always more and more rewarding, that today define Kon.El.Co. S.p.A. as one of the leader society in the electronic branch. Since the beginning, GBC brand accompanies the success of Kon.El.Co. S.p.A., constituting the most important commercial project of the company.

FORMENTI GROUP HISTORY It was founded in Desio ( Milan ) from Carlo Formenti in 1947 , under the name Carlo Formenti sas, and began his activities with the construction of radio , designed by the same founder, private label and under contract with other brands.

In 1953 the activities were moved to a new factory with 80 employees and was launched early production of TV sets in black and white , mostly as a subcontractor for major brands like Telefunken , Singer and Siemens .

Three years later began exports to foreign countries, and always as a subcontractor produced devices with trademarks for the large retail chains in Europe.

In 1961 took over the Italian plant of U.S. Admiral of Concorezzo with its 1,000 employees and a production capacity of 500 units per day, the license for the brand , and continued with the production of television and radio.
Admiral was formed Formenti SpA based in Milan , Lombardy and the company began its period of expansion so that within a few years led her to be one of the largest in the industry nationally.

Moreover, the production was extended to the field of "white" with the start of production of washing machines .

During the sixties , the head office and administration of the company, which changed its name to Industrie Formenti SpA Italy, was moved to Liss .

In 1972 was inaugurated a new plant in Sessa Aurunca for the production of color televisions with brands Admiral, Phoenix , Philco , and Televideon Uranya. Formenti was actually the first in Italy to produce the equipment, but until 1976 were marketed exclusively in the Central European countries, especially France and Germany , where for some time had already begun broadcasting in color.

Since 1983 the Group Formenti appeared on the market with another brand, White-Westinghouse , which became the most important with TVs, VCRs and household products from the same company Brianza.
In subsequent years Formenti used other brands as DuMont and Schaub-Lorenz .

Partially affected by the general crisis of the Italian electronic, in 1984 the public financial REL entered the capital Formenti record the 27.75% of the shares . The company, which by then had 580 employees scattered in the two plants, however, was one of the few entries in orbit REL able to repair their accounts in a short time.

In 1989 was started the modernization and extension of the establishment of Sessa, the installation of assembly automation , which allowed the company to undergo an increase in productivity from 300 to 2,200 pieces per day,The establishment of Concorezzo was instead intended to produce a new monitor and display for professional computer and ATM .

The company's continued A successful period during the nineties . Its sales went from over 108 billion lire in 1991 to 310 made in 1999 . Meanwhile, the Group acquired it in Monza 1997 the brand Imperial and the failed Sèleco , noting the brands Brionvega and Tandberg and the establishment of Pordenone (activated in 1998 ), and finally the Formenti family formed a new group called Sèleco-Formenti SpA, the which Charles, the founder, assumed the presidency, while the sons John and Julius, held the positions of CEO and director, respectively .

But since the year 2000 for Formenti begins a period of severe crisis. The company's balance sheet records a large deficit due to declining sales, the latter factor caused by the aggressive competition of producers Turkish color TV, put on the market at competitive prices clearly and without adequate anti- dumping on the part of ' European Union .

Also as a result of the difficulties facing the company, it decided to close the two plants Concorezzo ( 2000 ) and Sessa Aurunca ( 2003 ), respectively, 130 and 440 employees, as well as staff reductions in the Friuli .

In 2004 the company was put into liquidation , and then it is decided by the commissioner, the Court of Monza that appointment as curator Professor. Francesco Fimmanò. After a long period of unemployment benefits for workers of the company, shed of Pordenone and brands Sèleco, Brionvega and Imperial in 2006 are awarded to the Super / / Fluo , a company based in Udine owned by the brothers Carlo and Marco Asquini. The new property will only tempoi to produce some brand Imperial model tv, radio, and a Seleco brand new LCD TV brand Brionvega before the bankruptcy of the same. From this to save the brand Super / / Fluo, while the other brands owned and acquired by Formenti will pass to the new property called Selek Brionvega Technology and the mark for both audio and video production will switch to SIM2 Multimedia, the renowned Italian company field projectors.
